What is healthy eating? Is what you are eating healthy for you? Do you know what a difference it can make?
It is true that what food you put into your body “today” determines your “tomorrow”.

For instance your levels of fish and seed oils (HDL fats) will have an effect on your risk of heart disease in the future. They also can help with the prevention of IBS and inflammatory bowel disorders.
Type 2 diabetes has become the most frequently encountered metabolic disorder in the world and abdominal fat is the major indicator. Eating consistently, refined and/or sugary foods will contribute to the increased risk of becoming a type 2 diabetic.
Clinical data also suggest those who drink green tea lower their risks of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
A diet high in fruit and vegetables decreases the risk of cancer by 30-40%,the colours of which reflect the nutritional content of phytochemicals which actively protect you from various types of cancer.
But it’s not all bad news! Did you know that good quality dark chocolate at 50gms a day actually might protect you from heart disease?
Eating healthily also needs to address you own biochemical and individual needs, determined by your genetic history, environment and lifestyle. For instance, stress uses up more vitamin C and magnesium, PMT usually indicates the need for more vitamin B6 and eczema suggests the need of more omega 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fats.
To determine what you need, an individual nutritional assessment is necessary.
